DOULA / BIRTH SUPPORT
" If a Doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it", Dr. Marshall Klaus.
What does it mean to have support at your birth? "Having someone with you during labor and at the birth of your baby who you know and trust. Having someone with you who knows that you can do it. Having someone with you who is listening to you and your baby and supporting you to have an empowered, enlightened and ecstatic birth experience. A Doula can be with you from the onset of labor until you are comfortable with your baby after the birth. The work that you have done together before the birth increases your feeling of safety and support, making it easier for you to let go into an ecstatic birth experience for you and your baby."
Pat Bennaceur, BIRTH GUIDE DOULA Pat has been working for many years in the area of personal growth and counseling. Prior to this she worked in mainstream business, latterly as a director of a manufacturing company. Pat’s interest in birth began soon after the birth of her son who was born in 1990. Realizing that despite the use of technology and a hospital birth, her body had known exactly what to do, she began to question some commonly held beliefs about birth and the use of medical intervention. In 1991 she met and began to train with Binnie A. Dansby going on to complete her three year Healing Birth Rebirther training. This connection continued with Pat organizing and promoting Binnie’s work for a number of years. During this time she also gained wider experience by supporting and supervising similar training programs in the UK and Europe. Pat recently completed a Birth Guide Doula training with Birth & Bonding International. She currently supports families during pregnancy and birth, sees individual clients for Healing Birth Rebirthing and counseling sessions and facilitates her own groups. Pat Bennaceur can be reached in the UK on 44 (0) 1 273 727588. pat.bennaceur@virgin.net |
