Ecstatic Birth is a call for a revolution, a revolution in the way we think about birth, and, as a result, the way we give birth. Ecstasy is not the absence of feeling. Ecstasy can be experienced by accepting whatever we are feeling in the moment and making a conscious choice to say "Yes" to it, so that the energy can flow and shift and change. Ecstasy is a transcendent, empowering event that sets the foundation for expanded creativity in all areas of life. For 25 years I have been a devoted student of birth, and I have observed that most people think that birth hurts. That no matter what they do it will be demeaning, excruciating and sometimes humiliating. Most people choose to leave birth to the medical establishment and their technology. Since 1986, only 3% of the births with a focus on Ecstatic Birth work have had any intervention, as contrasted with national averages of 80% and over in most of modern society. One of the things that I have learned from being with birth and the effects of birth is that what we think about birth, we think about life. I invite you to explore this website and to participate in the information provided here. It is the result of many years of personal research and study and, most important, observation and listening, to babies and their mothers. Listening to what is important and to what works and what has an effect on them individually and together. There are many wise teachers, mentors and friends who have come before me to lead the way. I am deeply grateful for their guidance in this exploration. Over these years I have worked in hundreds of seminar rooms, therapy rooms and labor rooms. The result (or at least the introduction) I offer to you here. I have also created several products, to support and enhance the experience of pregnancy and birth for parents and professionals. We are all deeply affected by, and have an effect on, the process of birth. Birth is a process of co-creation for everyone involved, not just for father, mother and baby. We are doing this together! The body of work which this thinking represents is known as Pre and Perinatal Psychology. It is a field that for several decades has been dedicated to the in-depth exploration of the psychological, emotional, and social development of babies and parents from preparation for conception and pregnancy through the postpartum period. This area of psychology is represented by The Association for Pre and Perinatal Psychology and Health, APPPAH. I highly recommend visiting their website and also joining the organization as well, especially for childbirth professionals. There is also a "Helpful Links" page which will provide you with access to other useful sites on pregnancy, birth and life. There is more to come. This is a foundation site and, with time and money, will grow into something even more wonderful. We plan a highly interactive site where people from anywhere in the world can engage in complete programs to support and guide them through the process of birth/life. A book is also in the works and trustfully will be published within a year. |
In the profound and sensory experience of birth we were making decisions. Those decisions are held at the level of our cellular memory. They cause an effect whether we are conscious of them or not. It is possible to explore the decisions made at birth and the closely held beliefs about birth that we hear from our family and society. When we give birth in past thinking we are giving birth to the past again. Our future is worth more than that.
Who is Binnie A. Dansby
Binnie
A. Dansby is an International teacher and member of both the European and
American societies for prenatal and perinatal psychology, ISPPPM and
APPPAH. Her career spans many
fields including art, design, performance, clinical hypnotherapy and
psychology. She is the mother of two sons. She began working in the field
of psycho-spiritual process and breathwork in 1975.
Since1980, Ms. Dansby has been supporting births, including the
first water birth in the USA. Dedicated to transforming the quality of
Life through the acknowledgement of the effects of our Source Experience
(conception,
gestation and
birth) on human consciousness, Ms Dansby
has led courses in more than a dozen countries.
She currently leads an ongoing training for personal development, Breathwork
therapists and childbirth professionals in Denmark.
She has designed and created an approach to pregnancy, birth
preparation and birth that continues to produce beneficial results for everyone.
Ms. Dansby has written and published many articles and has a range
of birth and pregnancy products to support the experience of empowering and
ecstatic birth.
